Dr Brasanac Dental Practice Recommends
-
First and
foremost, which is worth repeating, is the importance of
oral hygiene i.e. regular brushing the correct way. This has
a major effect on a person’s health, the appearance of their
teeth and the beauty of their smile and the smile is an
important element in many life’s situations. It is important
to have a good quality toothbrush, not too hard and not too
soft, the toothpaste should contain fluoride and brushing
should be regular. With this commitment the reward will be
a healthy and beautiful smile. The teeth should be brushed
every morning before breakfast, every evening before going
to bed and preferably after eating sugary food. We can show
you the correct way to brush your teeth during one of your
visits.
-
In order to
maintain adequate oral hygiene it is important to floss
regularly as well as brush. There are few people whose teeth
are spaced apart sufficiently to enable the toothbrush to
reach all the tooth surfaces. Usually the situation is the
opposite and the most common location for tooth decay is
between the teeth where the brush can’t reach. Dental floss
easily and effectively solves this problem by removing the
impurities from interdental spaces.
-
The teeth are
held in the jawbone by dental ligaments, which also require
adequate care and hygiene to maintain optimum oral health.
Therefore it may sometimes be necessary to remove dental
plaque in cases where there is excessive build up.
-
Fluoride is a
chemical compound that is extremely beneficial for the
growth and development of teeth, improving their hardness
and durability. It should be used only under the guidance of
your dentist. It is recommended for pregnant women,
especially in the last trimester, nursing mothers, children
of all ages as well as adults.
